Advanced Child Tax Credit
Did you receive CTC payments from the IRS? READ THIS!!!
You will be receiving a letter called 6419 from the IRS. It will be a letter & may not look like an official tax document that you may be more familiar with. It will tell you how much was the IRS has paid you toward the Child Tax Credit for 2021. SAVE THIS LETTER IN YOUR TAX FILE!
Taxpayers should keep end of year documents including:
Letter 6419, 2021 Total Advance Child Tax Credit Payments, to reconcile advance Child Tax Credit payments
Letter 6475, Your 2021 Economic Impact Payment, to determine eligibility to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit
Form 1095-A, Health Insurance Marketplace Statement, to reconcile advanced Premium Tax Credits for Marketplace coverage
IMPORTANT When you’re ready to file, but don’t have your 6419 letter (or any other IRS letter), there is an alternative. You can use the IRS Child Tax Credit portal with an ID.me account to verify the details from the letter: https://www.irs.gov/credits-deductions/child-tax-credit-update-portal
